Schedules

Intro to Coding & Robotics- codeSpark, Dash & Dot, Bloxels (01/27/2021-05/26/2021)

Weeks 1-6: codeSpark Academy

Learn to code and make video games with CodeSpark Academy, a Kid Coder friendly coding platform that is: “-Completely word-free

-Based on research backed curriculum from MIT and Princeton

-Self-directed – no experience required.”

——————————————————————————————–
Weeks 7- 11: Video Game Design with
Bloxels

Design a high-tech, interactive video game with codeSpark (K-1) or Bloxels (grades 2-5)!

Kid Coders will create and design their very own video game(s) using the Bloxels game creation platform! Bloxels is “a hands-on platform for kids to build, collaborate, and tell stories through video game creation.” Please have your camper download the Bloxels EDU app here, and create his/ her own account before the first day of class.
——————————————————————————————–

Weeks 12- 17: Dash & Root Robot Coding

Code Dash & Dot robots– two friendly bots that love to complete missions. Experiment with measurement, sensors, and tons of abilities to achieve badges throughout our session.

Kid Coders will learn coding concepts through a block-based coding language called Blockly. This is a visual coding language that is rooted in Javascript code. Beginning coders will become proficient in the Blockly language as they learn the fundamentals of coding: sequences, algorithms, loops, events, conditionals, functions, and variables.

——————————————————————————————–

Have a Roomba- Robotic Vacuum? Then, your child must learn how to code Root!

Through coding Root, Kid Coders will be introduced to a visual programming language that will progress from Level 1, a visual programming language to Root’s Level 3 coding language “Level 3 allows Kid Coders to solve problems and learn the syntax and structure of professional coding languages in Swift.” Find out more about Root here: https://root.irobot.com/
