Discovery School Code Robots & Design Video Games! Tuesday (3-4pm)

17 Weeks of Learning!

Weeks 1- 5: Driving Dash & Dot Robots with Code

Code Dash & Dot robots- two friendly bots that love to complete missions. Experiment with measurement, sensors, and tons of abilities to achieve badges throughout our session.

Children that attend this session will learn coding concepts through a block-based coding language called Blockly. This is a visual coding language that is rooted in Javascript code. Beginning coders will become proficient in the Blockly language as they learn the fundamentals of coding: sequences, algorithms, loops, events, conditionals, functions, and variables.

Weeks 7- 10: Root Robot Coding

Have a Roomba- Robotic Vacuum? Then, your child must learn how to code Root!

Through coding Root, Kid Coders will be introduced to a visual programming language that will progress from Level 1, a visual programming language to Root’s Level 3 coding language “Level 3 allows Kid Coders to solve problems and learn the syntax and structure of professional coding languages in Swift.”

Kid Coders will practice coding in a fun and laid back learning environment that will allow the ability to explore and expand on coding capabilities!

Find out more about Root here:

Weeks 11- 17: Video Game Design with Bloxels & codeSpark

Design a high-tech, interactive video game with codeSpark (K-1) or Bloxels (grades 2-5)!

Kid Coders will create and design their very own video game(s) using the Bloxels game creation platform! Bloxels is “a hands-on platform for kids to build, collaborate, and tell stories through video game creation.”

Check out their site here: Your child will be ecstatic to share the games that they created!
